Humane Society opens feline facilities
BEMIDJI – The Beltrami County Humane Society recently finished its cat colony rooms.
After years of planning and months of remodeling, cats can now roam freely within the rooms as opposed to being confined to kennels. The building has been modified to allow for three cat colony rooms, each of which can hold eight to 10 cats.
Money from the Ralph and Ruth Shoemate Endowment Fund allowed for the project’s completion.
The no-kill shelter was established in 1977. It can house up to 45 felines and 25 canines. It is open 12:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 1612 Carr Lake Road.
