Hubbard County Sheriff Frank Homer reported today that at approximately 6:04 a.m. Saturday, the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office received a report of a one vehicle accident on County Road 18, approximately two miles west of Nevis. Also responding were Nevis First Responders and North Ambulance.
Upon arrival, it was learned a young male had came to the residence of Duane Raze asking for assistance at around 5:00 a.m. Before Raze could answer the door, the young male left. Raze did see blood on one leg of the individual. Raze then drove around the area looking for the subject. He was able to locate the individual's vehicle at the intersection of Field Lane and Falcon Road in Nevis Township. The vehicle had apparently rolled over several times. Mr. Raze then called 9-1-1. Officers and responders began searching the area for the driver and any other passengers that may have been involved.
At approximately 7:30 a.m. John Reuvers called and reported that a person, who identified himself as Christopher Schumacher, was in a cabin at 24165 Field Lane in Nevis MN and that the individual was bleeding from his leg. Christopher told officers that he had walked from the wrecked vehicle to the cabin, where he fell asleep. He was the only occupant of the vehicle. It was learned that the individual was Christopher Scott Schumacher, age 26, of Rockford MN.
Schumacher was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was treated for the laceration on his knee and back and neck pain. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor as to the cause of the accident.
This case remains under investigation.
