July 23, 1933-March 8, 2008
Former lakes area resident Howard S. Tingesdahl, 74, of Bakersfield, Calif., passed away Saturday, March 8, 2008, surrounded by his family and close friends.
Howard Stanton Tingesdahl was born on July 23, 1933 in Moorhead, and spent his childhood in West Fargo, before moving with his family to southern California in 1959.
After raising his family in Ontario, Howard and his wife returned to Minnesota during his retirement years, until two years ago, when they moved back to California to be close to family. Howard always stood strong in his faith in the Lord, and raised his family in the church. His church family was always his second family, no matter what community he lived in, and he was a member of both Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osage and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bakersfield.
Howard was active in Boy Scouts of America, West End Kiwanis Club, the Toad Lake Association and Sons of Norway. He spent many years working as an electrician, but was an all-around "Mr. Fix-It."
Howard will dearly be missed by family and many friends. We will see you again in Heaven. You will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts.
Surviving Howard are his loving wife of 56 years, Evangeline Tingesdahl of Bakersfield, Calif.; his children, Terry (Jodeen) Tingesdahl of Galt, Calif., Timothy (Gail) Tingesdahl of Phelan, Calif., Thomas (April) Tingesdahl of Wrightwood, Calif., Theodore (Diane) Tingesdahl of Janesville, Wis., and Tamara (Charles) Poynor of Bakersfield; 19 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Howard's parents and daughter, Teresa, preceded him in death.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, March 12, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bakersfield, with a graveside service scheduled for 10:45 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at Ontario Memorial Park in California.
