Hortense G. "Tammy" Richard, 100, of Frazee, died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids.
Hortense Germaine Cossette was born to Arthur and Emma (Dubord) Cossette on May 22, 1908 in Hickson, N.D. As a child, she lived on the farm near Hickson. On June 28, 1928, she married Leon Joseph Richard, Sr., at St. Benedict Church in Wild Rice, N.D. They moved to Fargo, and lived there until they bought a farm on Eagle Lake, by Frazee, in 1943. After selling the farm, they bought some land and in 1970, built a home five miles east of Frazee.
Surviving Tammy are her daughter, Kathleen (Victor) Pickett of Park Rapids; one brother, Ernest (Hazel) Cossette of Fargo; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Tammy is preceded in death by her husband, Leon J. Richard, Sr., and her son, Leon A. Richard, Jr., both in 1987; four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee, with the Rev. Fred Brown officiating. Visitation will take place at Furey Funeral Home one hour prior to the start of services on Monday, with burial to follow the services at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Frazee.
