Homeless fundraiser a success

Email

BEMIDJI -- The Nameless Coalition for the Homeless sponsored a fundraiser at the Bemidji Eagles Club on Feb.16. The group raised more than $2,000 in donations for emergency shelter and community meals at Peoples Church. Coalition member Carol Priest said there were an estimated 150 people in attendance.

“Hearts for Hospitality” was the coalition’s first midwinter festival which included a silent auction, raffle, live music by Red Cedar Lake and a ham dinner. Bemidji Downtown Meats, Brigid’s Pub and area churches contributed to the meal.

“We would like to thank Red Cedar Lake for great music and all the individuals and businesses that donated time, talent and treasure,” Priest said. “I think calling it a midwinter festival was accurate, because the atmosphere was totally festive.”
