Home by Northwoods Log Homes in national magazine
A home built by Northwoods Log Homes of Laporte nearly 30 years ago is featured in the October 2010 issue of Cabin Life Magazine.
The log A-frame home, with six bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, is situated on a point on northern Minnesota's Lake Vermilion.
Bryan Kerby, president of Northwoods Log Homes, said the house was originally built in the early 1980s for the chairman of Dayton Hudson. Kerby remembers clearing the land to build the home as a teenager, one of his first projects in the family business that originally started in the 1950s.
Kerby didn't know the home was featured in the magazine until a client who was familiar with Northwoods Log Homes' log work spotted the cover story.
"Not only having a home we built so long ago be featured, but the fact our log work was immediately recognized is a tremendous compliment to the longevity of our structures," Kerby said.
The Lake Vermillion home is T-shaped to maximize the lakefront panorama. It has dormers that are loft bedrooms facing the lake, also offering optimum views overlooking the lake.
Houses built by Northwoods Log Homes have been featured in national magazines five times this year alone.
From Minnesota lake homes to mountain country getaways, Northwoods Log Homes, a log home manufacturer and builder based in Laporte, has more than 50 years of experience in building custom log homes in locations spanning the United States.
