The Bemidji Nordic ski teams traveled to Mount Itasca in Coleraine to find snow Saturday at Adam Holter made the most of the trip as he won the individual boys race.
The competitors took three laps around the 1.6-kilometer course which featured man-made snow.
"Overall, I was surprised and very pleased with how we skied considering that this was our first time on snow," said BHS coach Mark Walters.
Holter finished the race in 13:54.70 and used an extra burst at the end to nip LaSavege Bauer of Duluth East who was clocked in 13:54.80.
Bemidji's other results saw Tony Sagedahl finish in 14:18, Kyle Sagedahl in 14:37, Eli Rassler in 15:25, Sam Dwyer in 16:26 and Tanner Asper in 17:13
In the girls varsity race Morgan Sagedahl was clocked in 17:26, Summer Johnson in 19:17, Kim Truedson in 19:58, California Thorson in 20:25, Emma Brokl in 20:40 and Mikayla Connell in 23:31.
