BEMIDJI – Four Beltrami County administrator applicants will be interviewed Friday by the hiring committee.

They have not been named finalists for the position, so their names are not yet public, said Tim Faver, Beltrami County administrator and member of the hiring committee.

The four are being interviewed Friday morning by the committee in sessions that are not open to the public, Faver said.

The committee then will decide which of the four should be named finalists and go for interviews before the full Beltrami County Board of Commissioners.

At that point, Faver said, their names and background would be made public.

The position has been vacant since May, when decade-long administrator Tony Murphy resigned his $104,500-a-year position.

Springsted, a St. Paul firm, has been hired by the county to lead the administrator search. The job, offering a salary range of $83,636 to $104,561, was posted July 9.

The hiring committee is composed of Faver; Commissioners Jim Lucachick and Joe Vene; Ron Pula, management information systems director; Cindy Borowski, jail administrator; Richard Moore, natural resources director; Bruce Hasbargen, county engineer; and Linda Tran, human resources director.

Faver said the committee has met several times to review applications and information from Springsted, which asked initial questions of candidates and provided to the committee their qualifications and background.

“Then, we paired it down to the four to be interviewed Friday,” he said.

The goal, Faver said, is to hire for the position this year and have the successful candidate start around the start of 2013.
