BEMIDJI -- A Hines, Minn., man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon north of Bemidji.

The broadside accident occurred at the intersection of Town Hall Road and U.S. Highway 71 just before 5 p.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

According to the Patrol, Janet Erie, 85, of Bemidji, was northbound on U.S. Highway 71 in her 2012 Lexus RX350 when she attempted to turn left onto Town Hall Road when her vehicle was broadsided by a 1990 Buick Lesabre driven by Dennis Freyholtz, 66, of Hines.

Erie and two of Freyholtz's passengers, Linda Freyholtz, 65, and Dean Freyholtz, 36, both of Hines, suffered non-life threatening injuries, the patrol said, while Dennis Freyholtz suffered serious injuries. The four were transported to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center and Dennis Freyholtz was later transferred to Sanford Hospital in Fargo, the patrol said. A condition report on Freyholtz from Sanford Fargo was not available Friday evening.

All four people were wearing their seat belts, the patrol said. The accident remains under investigation.
