RED LAKE - The Red Lake boys basketball team needed a buzzer-beating shot to hold off Cass Lake-Bena Thursday night.

Red Lake's Travis Dow took an inbound pass with .4 seconds left in the game and connected on a 3-point basket as time expired to lift the Warriors to a 75-72 win over the Panthers.

Cass Lake-Bena trailed by as much as 11 points before rallying to tie the game with six minutes remaining in the second half.

Red Lake led 31-30 at halftime.

Red Lake improved its record to 3-1 and became the first team to defeat Cass Lake-Bena this season.

Cass Lake-Bena entered the game as the No. 6 ranked team in Minnesota Class A basketball and fell to 3-1 with the loss.

Cass Lake-Bena senior Martin Wind needed 12 points in the game to reach the 2,000 career points mark.

He crossed the mark and finished the game with 34 points.

The game was stopped at the end of the first half when Wind reached 2,000 points for a brief ceremony to recognize the feat. Wind was also presented the game ball.

Cass Lake-Bena's Ben Cameron had 17 points.

Tim Lajeunesse led Red Lake with 27 points in the game.

Kevin Cook added 9 points for the Warriors.

Red Lake won last year's game between the two rivals in Red Lake before falling at Cass Lake-Bena later in the season and in the Section 8A East Subsection Championship game.

The two teams meet for the final time this season Jan. 15 at Cass Lake-Bena.

Because enrollment numbers boosted Red Lake to Class 2A, the teams will not have the chance to meet in the playoffs this season.

Cass Lake-Bena 54, Blackduck 52

BLACKDUCK - The Cass Lake-Bena girls basketball team earned its first victory of the season Thursday night.

Jordan Jackson had 24 points and Danielle Jourdain added 10 points for the Panthers in the victory.

Sierra Savich had 18 points and Mollie Exner had 13 points for Blackduck.

The game was tied 27-27 at halftime.

Clearbrook-Gonvick 54, Win-E-Mac 50

CLEARBROOK - Whitney Rogstad scored 25 points to lead the Clearbrook-Gonvick girls basketball team to victory Thursday night.

Brooke Wraa added 14 points for the Bears.

For Win-E-Mac, Shelby Kaster scored 15 points and Madisen Pries scored 14 points.

Clearbrook-Gonvick won the game after trailing 25-21 at halftime.
