Henry Bonde

Former Detroit Lakes resident Henry C. "Hank" Bonde IV, 33, of Anchorage, Alaska, died Thursday, March 20, 2008 at his home.

Henry Clayton Bonde IV was born to Henry C. and Jackie (Ekren) Bonde on Dec. 28, 1974 at Fridley, Minn. He grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes. He graduated with his associate degree from the Scottsdale Culinary Institute Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Program in 2000. Over the years, Hank lived in Scottsdale, Ariz., Lake Tahoe, Calif., Colorado Springs, Colo., Sacramento, Calif., and had lived in Anchorage since 2003. He was employed as a culinary chef with Doyan and Arctic Catering.

Hank enjoyed cooking, hiking, camping, traveling (especially to Patia, Thailand), hanging out with friends, the great outdoors, and skateboarding. His family writes: "Hank will be missed for his kind heart, adventurous spirit, fun personality and excellent cooking. He made such an impact in such a short lifespan, he will be missed and remembered by many. We look forward to seeing you again, Hank. We love you so very much. God Bless you."

Surviving Hank are his mother, Jackie Bonde of Anchorage; father, Hank Bonde III of Detroit Lakes; brother, Bob Bonde of Anchorage; sister Jessica (Kris) Kortuem of Colorado Springs; girlfriend, Ning, of Patia, Thailand; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Preceding Hank in death were his grandmothers, Ada Mae Ekren-Tweeton and Virginia Eleanor Otteson-Bonde; uncle, John Bonde; cousins, Grant and Benjamin Ekren; and his beloved dog, Candy.

Memorial services services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26 at the First United Methodist Church, 725 W. Ninth Avenue, Anchorage. An additional memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, March 28 at the West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.
