Health care reform was supposed to help people

Email

I am concerned about MNSure/ObamaCare. I am in need of health care frequently due to a rare genetic disorder. It’s a pre-existing condition, so the cost of health insurance was not even feasible for my family.

We are below 250 percent of the federal poverty level. We were accepted into MNCare. We paid $226 a month with $3 co-pay, which included chiropractor, eye and dental. I then received a letter in the mail stating that my insurance would end Jan. 1, 2014. Our family of four now made too much money to get MNCare.

How is it that the health care reform that was supposed to help people like me is dropping me? So I went on MNSure to sign up for other insurance because I could not afford my bills otherwise. I spent hours on the phone trying to get nonexistent help from MNSure or trying to get into their website that either will not let me log in or would change my premium amounts for the same plan.

Our highest medical expenses in a month before ObamaCare/MNSure were $301. Now it is $614 a month minimum. We cannot afford these premiums or the medical expenses without insurance.

Please, if you are having the same kind of issues then let your elected officials know about it. I spoke with both the governor and house majority leader’s office and they both thought that MNCare was extended to cover more people and couldn’t believe I was dropped. Yet here I am! They don’t have to have MNSure so they don’t even know what is going on. So tell them. This is so important. Please stand up now. Before it is too late.
