Head-on collision in Roseau County sends 2 to hospital
BEMIDJI -- Two people were sent to a Grand Forks hospital after a head-on collision Thursday night in Roseau County.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Duane Kukowski, 40, of Badger, Minn., was eastbound on Minnesota Highway 11 in a 2002 Chevy Tahoe at about 9:30 p.m. when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Dylan Johnson, 16, of Roseau. Road conditions were icy at the time, the patrol said. Kukowski was wearing a seat belt; Johnson was not, but air bags deployed in both vehicles, the patrol said. Both were taken to Altru Health System in Grand Forks, N.D., with serious injuries, according to the patrol.
The Roseau County Sheriff's Office and the Roseau Police Department responded to the scene.
