Hazel M. Holley, 89, of Bemidji, died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Bemidji with the Rev. Jim Darchuk officiating. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bemidji.
Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family with arrangements.
She was born June 28, 1919, to Albert and Anna Kirchgatter in Fairmont, Minn., the youngest of five children. She graduated from Fairmont High School in 1936.
In 1937, she married Harold M. Holley of Wells, Minn. They raised their three children in Fairmont until 1961, when they moved to Bemidji. They farmed south of Bemidji until 1976, when they purchased a small home near Nary.
She enjoyed the outdoors, and gardening was a big part of her life. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church and was part of the Rebecca Circle. She was also active in the Nary Home-makers and the Over 55 Club.
She is survived by her children, Steven (Janet) Holley of Bemidji and Dianne (Joseph) D'Alessandro of Solway; six grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters; a brother; her husband, in 1995 and her son, Jerald, in 2004.
