Harris, Eken honored as special volunteers

BEMIDJI - The Bemidji Pioneer, Paul Bunyan Broadcasting, Ken K. Thompson and the United Way recognize Someone Special Volunteers who have made significant contributions to the community.

Girl Scouts of Minnesota Wisconsin Lakes and Pines nominated Pam Harris and Traci Eken as Someone Special volunteers.

Volunteers are essential to the Girl Scout program. Pam Harris is an outstanding volunteer who donates her time with energy and enthusiasm. She always has a smile on her face. She leads a very active troop, helps at and plans events, chaperones field trips and is a unit leader with day camp. The Girl Scouts are fortunate to have her as a Girl Scout volunteer.

Traci Eken has been active in the Girl Scout program for many years. She has a troop in Solway, helps plan and assists with events, handles her troop's cookie sale, has been a council delegate and is active in most aspects of the Girl Scout program. Eken is a dedicated volunteer who shares her time and talent to help ensure that the mission of Girl Scouts come to life.

Girl Scouts is the nation's premier leadership organization for girls. Girl Scouts are active in their communities with service projects in support of local, national and international causes that the girls care about. The Girl Scout program gives girls unlimited leadership opportunities and is the largest volunteer led organization for girls in the nation.
