Hamilton lands top prize at Hardwater Classic ice fishing contest

Jerry Hamilton won the $1,000 first prize for largest fish caught in the third annual Hardwater Classic ice fishing contest held Jan. 15 on Lake Bemidji.


The event is a fundraiser for Beaver Pride and proceeds will be used for athletic scholarships at Bemidji State University.

Thirty-eight fish were caught for the top 50 prizes in northern, walleye and perch categories.

Derek Stevens and Adam Hawton won Otter pop-up fish houses. Scott Wurley won a StrikeMaster ice auger from Bluewater Outdoors. Chris St. Peter won an underwater camera from Markum.

William Smith won the fish house donated by Corner Sports. Dale Thompson won the Polaris 4-wheeler from Bemidji Sports Centre.
