Karen Barker of Eldon, Mo., took first place in the sixth annual National Chainsaw Sculpting Invitational Sept. 24-26 in downtown Hackensack. Barker has been a participant in the event for the past three years and has placed each year, but never won before. Her masterpiece carving was a bench featuring bears. First place goes to the carver who makes the most money when all the pieces are auctioned off.
