Grygla man charged with murdering his 4-month-old son

A Grygla man faces murder charges in connection with the death of his infant son.

Damien Marsden, 31, was charged today in Pennington County with second-degree murder, second-degree murder while committing child neglect and second-degree murder while committing child endangerment.

A District Court judge set bail for Marsden at $40,000 cash.

An autopsy by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office found that Rylin Marsden, 4 months, died of "traumatic head injuries due to physical assault," including a fractured skull.

Marshall County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Marsden Wednesday, March 10.

Investigators with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Marshall County Sheriff's Office believe the injuries happened on Aug. 2 at Marsden's home in Grygla. Rylin Marsden died of his injuries on Aug. 8 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D.

Prosecutors with the Minnesota Attorney General's Office are handling the case. Each felony count carries a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison.
