Group plans "vote no" campaign stop Saturday in Bemidji
BEMIDJI - A group pushing to convince voters to vote against a constitutional amendment defining marriage plans to make a swing through Bemidji on Saturday afternoon.
Rep. Tim Kelly of Red Wingwill joined by faith and community leaders for the “Minnesota Votes No” statewide get-out-the-vote tour with a 5 p.m. stop atHeadwaters Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 522 America Ave., Bemidji.
Guests expected to appear with Kelly arePastor Grant Stevensen andJavier Morillo, President of SEIU Local 26 and Minnesotans United board member.
The group also stopped Saturday morning in Moorhead in advance of theConcordia College football game against St. Thomas. Minnesotans United is encouraging residents to vote no on the proposed constitutional amendment that would limit the freedom to marry for gay and lesbian couples in Minnesota. The Bemidji stop includes a visit to the local phone bank used in the group's election efforts.
