Grant Valley Township fire leaves home damaged

GRANT VALLEY TOWNSHIP – A house fire caused more than $24,000 worth of damage Sunday afternoon, but no injuries were reported.

The fire was reported at 4:11 p.m. by the home’s owner on the 10000 block of Division Street West, according to a press release from the Bemidji Fire Department.
Firefighters found heavy smoke coming out of the roof and attic after arriving, and determined that the fire was in the attic, according to the release. A large portion of the roof had to be removed to fight the blaze.
The fire department estimates that the fire caused about $24,500 worth of damage to the home and contents. The cause appears to be accidental, according to the press release.
Nineteen firefighters were on scene, as well as two fire engines and three water tenders.
The fire department was assisted by the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, the Bemidji Ambulance Service and the Beltrami Electric Co-op.
