Gordy Skaar Memorial Golf Tournament set for June 20
BEMIDJI —The 37th annual Gordy Skaar Memorial Golf Tournament will be June 20 at the Bemidji Town and Country Club and spots remain for both the morning and afternoon sessions.
The Skaar Memorial tournament began in 1978 by the late Gordy Skaar to assist Bemidji State in its effort to raise funds for its athletic programs.
The tournament format is a five-person scramble and begins with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. The afternoon flight begins at 1 p.m.
Jerry Phillips and Scott Robbins are the co-chairs of the Skaar tournament while Herb and Lynn Doran are the honorary chairs.
The $125 registration fee includes golf, brunch, refreshments and brats on the course, a fish fry following the afternoon flight, participation in the silent auction and the opportunity to win door prizes. Carts will be available at an extra cost.
A variety of activities will be held on the course and anyone who records a hole-in-one on the par-3 holes will win a special prize. The reward for an ace on No. 2 is a new car provided by Dondelinger GM.
Participants may register as a five-person team or individually. Women are encouraged to play and a special women’s division has been added this year.
