Gordon Wayne Hadrava, 70, of Bemidji, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at the North Country Regional Hospital, Bemidji.
A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home in Bemidji with the Rev. John Hubert officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was born Aug. 26, 1938, to Joseph and Rosie (Burnham) Hadrava in Park Rapids. He grew up and attended school in Becida. He worked in the woods with his father. He served in the U.S. Army. In 1957, he married Gayle Wehus in Bemidji. They lived in Bemidji and had three children together. He worked as a truck driver/heavy equipment operator for Thorson's for 22 years. Gayle died in 1969. He married Kathryn Sheets Aug. 19, 1972 in Wilton. They lived in Bemidji and he logged for B&B Trucking in Guthrie until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and his dogs. He also enjoyed discussing politics and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Hadrava of Bemidji; daughters, Kristi (Tim O'Brien) McLean of Bemidji, Teresa (Mark) Pierce of Louisiana, Kristy Chavez of Bemidji, Linda (Dale) Vogt of Becida, Kim (Scott) Carlson of Bemidji and Geri Ann Hadrava of Bemidji; son, Randy Hadrava of Bemidj; mother-in-law; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Dale (Sherry) Hadrava of Bemidji and Duane (Sylvia) Hadrava of Bemidji; sisters, Dorothy Macy of Washington, Linda Hayes of Iowa and Diane Vanderweg of Warroad, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elmer; and sisters, Doris Robinson, Jan Jensen and Lila Souder.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials.
