Gordon "Gordy" Robert Gibbs, 50, of Redby, formerly of Minneapolis, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at Red Lake Hospital in Red Lake.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Antipas Episcopal Church in Redby with the Rev. George Ross officiating. A wake began Monday at the Red Lake Center in Red Lake and will continue until the time of services. Burial will be in the Redby Community Cemetery in Redby, under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
Pallbearers will be Giamoni Parisien, Stephen Howard, Julian Walker, Anthony Gibbs, Todd Parisien, John Reyes, Hunter Parisien and Michael Beaulieu.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Sundahl, Kenny Grey, Jim Scholtes, Gary Auginash, Todd Fairbanks, Angie Zahn, Ben Goodman, Wallace Humphrey, Augustine Pacheco, Larry Buhl, Scott Adolphson and Mike Bock.
He was born Feb. 4, 1959, to Oliver and Mary (Jourdain) Gibbs Sr. in Bemidji. He graduated from South High School in 1977 and attended Brown Institute majoring in broadcasting. He worked for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board for nearly 22 years. He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, going to movies and the casino.
He is survived by his mother of Redby; brothers, Oliver (Diane) Gibbs Jr. of Hinkley, Minn., and Garrett (Amy) Gibbs of Osceola, Wis.; sisters, Diane Beaulieu of Bemidji, Carol (Donald) Parisien of Redby, Audrey Jourdain of Minneapolis and Jean Goodman of Boy Lake, Minn.; special aunt; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Ramona Gibbs; brother, Sheldon Gibbs; grandparents, Robert Sr. and Elizabeth Gibbs and Baptiste Jourdain.
