GOP campaign staffer accused of misrepresentation

BRAINERD, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota House Republican Campaign Committee says a field staff employee who misrepresented himself in a letter to the editor of the Brainerd Dispatch is no longer working for the organization.

In his published letter, Stephen Sundquist inferred he intended to vote for DFL candidate Joe Radinovich but was dismayed by the Democrat's public statements and intended to write-in the name of former Aitkin County DFL Chair David Strand.

The Dispatch reports Minnesota DFL Chairman Ken Martin has filed a complaint with the Office of Administrative Hearings, citing a state stature dealing with false letters to the editor. The complaint cites campaign finance reports which show Sundquist has been employed by the GOP campaign committee since May.

Sundquist did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
