Google events planned to help local businesses

In collaboration with the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, the Northwest Small Business Center has partnered with Google to help small businesses in the northwest region get online.

At the “Get Your Business Online Event” Sept. 20., Google experts will help small businesses create websites, advertise online and use other online resources to attract more customers.

This event includes four sessions, “Get Your Business Online,” “Grow Your Business Online,” “Google +” and “Google for Nonprofits.” Local small businesses will receive a free professional website with a unique domain name that will be hosted for one year without cost.

Jaimee Meyer, associate director for the Northwest Small Business Development Center, organized the event to increase the competitiveness of the region’s small businesses.

The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minn.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m.

The event fee is $10 per person for one or all four workshops. The fee includes a light breakfast, refreshments and lunch. Registration in advance is required.

The Northwest Small Business Development Center is one of nine regional offices in Minnesota that provide no cost, confidential, one-on-one business consulting services to existing and start-up businesses on a variety of business topics. The federal, state and locally funded program is hosted by Concordia College Offutt School of Business.
