GOLF: Bemidji boys finish third at Melrose meet
MELROSE – After struggling Wednesday at The Pines Golf Course near Brainerd and shooting 348, the Bemidji boys golf team fared much better Thursday at Greystone near Melrose, carding a 322 and finishing third in an eight-team meet.
“We were much more consistent today,” said BHS coach Seth Knudson. “We kept most of the big numbers off our cards but there is still room for improvement. Everyone can trim some shots off their round and we still will need to do when we play in the section meet.”
Sam Starkey and Sam Bruestle paced Bemidji with rounds of 80. Elliot Leinen and Matt Gregg carded 81s and Isaac Bleser shot 86. Ben Christopher finished with a 99.
Greystone is the site of the section tournament and the Lumberjacks will return to the course Tuesday when they face Moorhead in a dual meet.
“We will use Tuesday’s meet as a practice round so we can have one more opportunity to play the section course,” Knudson said.
