GOLF: Bagley’s Leintz tied for fourth after day one at state
JORDAN — Bagley’s Aaron Leintz is tied for fourth place after the first day of competition at the Minnesota Class AA golf tournament, held this year at The Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan.
The Flyers’ senior shot a 72 during day one of competition at the 72-par course. He shot a 36 on the front 18 and 36 on the back half.
Leintz is tied with Mitch Hagenson of Staples-Motley, Josh Kummerfeldt of Waseca and Lucas McCormick of Breck School for fourth.
Delano’s Jordan Peters led all golfers after the first day, shooting a 34-35-69 to lead the field.
Staples-Motley currently leads the team competition with a total of 294.
Leintz will tee off at 8:06 a.m. today in a quest to catch Peters for the state title.
Girls Class A
BECKER — Two other area golfers — Northome-Kelliher’s Kaylee Fisher and Blackduck’s Sasha Pfannenstein — competed in the Class A state tournament, held at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker.
Pfannenstein, a sophomore, is tied for 61st place after shooting a 55-53-108 on the 72-par course. Also tied with here were United South Central’s Kyley Bullerman, Ortonville’s Gina Nelsen and Legacy Christian’s Jadyn Nelson.
Fisher, a senior, shot 64-54-118 to finish tied for 77th after the first day of competition. She is tied with Badger-Greenbush-Middle River’s Madison Truscinski, Adrian’s Katie Wieneke and Ortonville’s Alisha Ross.
Hannah Kruger of Russell Tyler Ruthton leads the field with a 39-41-80 after day one.
Badger-Greenbush-Middle River also leads the Class A team competition with a 369.
Pfannenstein and Fisher will both tee off at noon today.
