Two teams searching for answers squared off, and unfortunately for the Beavers, it was Concordia-St Paul which passed the test, downing Bemidji State 93-69 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's basketball on Saturday.

For the second straight night, BSU couldn't master the first half. Concordia's Carissa Wolyniec exploded out of the gate. Wolyniec made all six treys she took in the half, four in the first eight minutes.

Even so, a Shannon Thompson 3-pointer drew the Beavers to within six points, 22-16, with just under 10 minutes to go. From here, however, the wheels came off for the home team.

Bemidji State would go on to score just six more points in the first stanza. CSP, on the other hand, kept the foot on the gas pedal. By the time the buzzer sounded, CSP had amassed a commanding 45-22 lead.

The numbers the Golden Bears put up were gaudy, shooting 9-for-13 from behind the arc, a staggering 70 percent. Concordia put up numbers not expected from a team riding a seven-game losing streak and playing on the road for the second time in less than 24 hours.

The home team got the offense cranked up in the second half but, unfortunately, CSP just kept humming along. With BSU forced to take chances, Concordia was able to spring shooters loose.

While the three point numbers cooled to a tepid 40 percent, the Golden Bears actually raised the overall field goal shooting to an outrageous 61 percent.

Kate Warmack battled all night long to lead the Beavers with 17 points, while Morgan Lee came off the bench to add 14 points.

Wolyniec's 23 points led all players. The win lifted Concordia to 4-7 in the NSIC and 7-10 overall. The Beavers fell to 3-8 in the NSIC and 5-11 overall.

Bemidji State hosts Minnesota State, Mankato next Friday at 6 p.m., followed by Southwest Minnesota State Saturday at 4 p.m.
