Gloria Ann Blanchard, 80, of Laporte, Minnesota went to be with her Lord on December 14, 2012 at her residence.
Gloria was born January 25, 1932 in Spooner, Wisconsin to Joseph and Josephine (Ricci) Cicchese. She graduated from Spooner High School and following graduation moved to St. Paul. She met Orlan Blanchard at a dance and they were married October 11, 1952. They continued living in the twin cities area where they raised their family. Gloria worked for Porky's Diner in St. Paul and various other jobs prior to her 29 year employment at Honeywell. Gloria and Orlan moved north to Laporte in 1985 where they built their retirement home and also enjoyed winters in Mission, Texas.
Gloria enjoyed spending time outdoors camping and fishing. She was also an excellent cook and canned garden produce. Orlan and Gloria were the envy of many couples on the dance floor. They made many special memories dancing together, and in Orlan's words she "tore up the rug". Gloria will be remembered as a loving person and a great wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Orlan, daughters; Terrie (Mike) Miller of Coon Rapids, Denise (Wayne) Frette of Ortonville, Kimberly (Mark) Adams of Grasston, son Jeffrey of Laporte, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, brothers; Albert (Beverly) Cicchese, David Cicchese, sisters; Eva Haglund, Stella (Curly) Roberts, and many loving in-laws and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Bill, Marie, Shirley, Leonard ,Dan, and Joseph.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Laporte with Rev. David Smith officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, December 18th from 5-7 pm at the Dennis Funeral Home of Walker, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Kabekona.
