Girls swimming: Park Rapids tops Bemidji
The Bemidji girls swimmers won the 200 medley and 400 free relays and had four individuals claim event titles but those points were not quite enough as Park Rapids edged the Lumberjacks 99-87 Tuesday in Park Rapids.
"If everything went perfectly and we had all the breaks, we could have won," said BHS coach Woody Leindecker. "But, on paper, this is about how I thought the meet might go. Park Rapids just won more events than we did and that was the difference."
Bemidji opened with a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay as Erin Arndt, Steph Frey, Jamie Vanasse and Dani Hoven teamed for a time of 2:00.51.
In the 200 free Lexi Hendricks was second, Alysa Wright fourth and Jordyn Olson fifth.
Arndt added a second and Libby McRae a fourth in the 200 individual medley and Hoven followed with a win in the 50 free, completing the sprint in 27.15.
Kylei Grosfield claimed diving with 210.10 points and Jana Hedstrom was second with 206.10.
Frey captured her first individual event title in the 100 fly (1:02.13) and the Lumberjacks went 2-4 in the 100 free behind Hoven's runner-up time of 1:00.61.
Hendricks was second and Vanasse third in the 500 free and the 200 free relay unit of Kenzie Timms, Grosfield, Hendricks and Katie Krause contributed a second.
Arndt also was second in the 100 back while Frey followed with her title in the 100 breast stroke (1:10.33).
Capping the meet was Bemidji's first-place finish in the 400 free relay as Arndt, Timms, Hoven and Frey combined for a time of 3:56.33.
