GIRLS HOCKEY: Roseau downs Bemidji 4-2

ROSEAU – Karleigh Wolkerstorfer scored a pair of goals, including one late in the third period which brought Bemidji within 3-2, but Roseau iced its 4-2 girls hockey victory Thursday ice with an open-net tally in the final 30 seconds.

Thursday’s loss evened Bemidji’s record at 9-9-5. The Lumberjacks will end the regular season Saturday at Brainerd and then await the section seedings which will be announced Wednesday.

Roseau took a 1-0 lead with a power play goal in the opening period. Wolkerstorfer notched her first of the night 19 seconds into the middle stanza but the Rams answered with a pair of goals later in the period.

Wolkerstorfer connected 13 minutes into the final session to close the gap to 3-2 but Roseau capped its win with the open netter.

Morgan Miller stopped 23 shots for the Jacks.

“I think our team is doing what we need to do to do well in the playoffs,” said BHS coach Bob Brink. “I think we’ll be a sneaky team in the postseason, even if we do not receive a first-round home game.”
