Both teams struggled offensively in the first half and the score was tied 13-13 at the break.

“We just weren’t hitting our shots,” said BHS coach Rick Kehoe. “We worked the ball and had the open looks but the shots that have gone down during the past four games didn’t drop.”

Detroit Lakes held a lead much of the second half but in the final minutes BHS was within reach of the win.

“We gave the effort,” Kehoe said. “We kept fighting and battling but in the end Detroit Lakes didn’t miss a free throw and that was the difference.”

The Lakers made only 11 field goals and four of them were from 3-point range. Detroit Lakes did convert 16 of its 21 free throws, however.

Alexa Greendahl scored eight points to lead the Jacks. Jess Yost added five.
