GIRLS HOCKEY: Bemidji can't overcome early deficit in 2-0 loss to Cloquet

CLOQUET – The Bemidji girls hockey team spotted Cloquet a 2-0 lead after the first period and the home team made those goals stand up as it stopped the Lumberjacks 2-0 Tuesday.

“It was a good game,” said BHS coach Bob Brink. “We outshot them but Cloquet is a good team. I am happy with the effort but disappointed that we didn’t find a way to get the win.”

The home team scored 12:36 into the opening period and connected again on the power play in the final minute.

Neither team scored the rest of the way.

“We had some momentum even after Cloquet (11-6-2) scored the first goal but that power play goal in the final minute hurt,” Brink said.

“During the rest of the game we had some good scoring chances but we just couldn’t get the puck in the net.”

Bemidji (5-6-5) returns to action Thursday when it hosts Thief River Falls at 7:30 p.m. at the Sanford Center.
