Girls hockey: Bemidji beats Brainerd 3-0
BRAINERD — Rachael Holm, Jacie Lalli and Sylvia Grimm scored and Leighton Rockensock stopped 11 shots as the Bemidji girls hockey team blanked Brainerd-Little Falls 3-0 Saturday in Brainerd.
The Lumberjacks coaches took the opportunity to give some of their junior varsity players time on the ice with the varsity as the Flying Warriors entered the game 1-15. Among those losses was a 9-0 decision at Bemidji about a month ago.
“We had a different lineup because this was a great chance to give some of our other players time with the varsity,” said BHS coach Jackie Robertson.
Holm opened the scoring about five minutes into the contest when she converted Kelsey Isaacson’s feed.
At the 13:33 mark Lalli upped the cushion to 2-0 with the help of Paige DeLaHunt and Isaacson.
Grimm capped the scoring early in the middle session. Lalli and Heather Olson assisted on the goal.
Saturday’s game starts a busy stretch which sees Bemidji heading to East Grand Forks on Tuesday, visiting Crookston Thursday and hosting Alexandria on Saturday.
