Girls hockey: Bemidji battles to 2-2 tie with St. Cloud Cathedral
ST. CLOUD — Jacie Lalli and Megan Dondelinger scored to help lead the Bemidji High School girls hockey team to a 2-2 tie Saturday at St. Cloud Cathedral.
The draw was Bemidji’s second of the season and the Lumberjacks will take a 2-4-2 record into Tuesday’s game at Detroit Lakes.
Bemidji’s next home appearance will be Dec. 10 against Crookston.
Neither team scored in the opening 17 minutes Saturday but Lalli gave BHS a 1-0 lead five minutes into the second stanza when she converted feeds from Dondelinger and Madison Schultz while the Jacks were on the power play.
The home team tied the game 1:16 into the third period when Megan Milroy scored with the help of Samantha Eisenreich’s assist.
Dondelinger, however, gave the Lumberjacks a 2-1 advantage three minutes later when she skated through the defense and beat Crusader goalie Allie Rosenkrans.
Late in the game Bemidji was whistled for a penalty and St. Cloud Cathedral took advantage of its opportunity as Milroy tallied her second goal of the contest at 14:42.
Neither team scored during the rest of regulation nor in the overtime.
Emily Frazer tended Bemidji’s net and stopped 27 shots, including six in overtime. Rosenkrans finished with 19 saves.
