GIRLS GOLF: Williams, Miller lead Lumberjacks at BHS Invitational
BEMIDJI — A month after it was originally scheduled the Bemidji girls golf team held its annual invitational Friday at the Bemidji Town and Country Club.
Because of the delay, only six teams were able to attend and leading the pack was Staples-Motley which finished at 356
The Lumberjacks were second with 364 and trailing the leaders were Fosston at 366, Moorhead with 376, Badger-Greenbush-Middle River with 416 and Crookston with 423.
The home team was led by Morgan Williams and Morgan Miller as both Lumberjacks shot 46-39-85 on the par 36-36-72 layout.
Alexis Konecne carded a round of 45-45-90 and Alyssa Meyers finished 55-49-104.
BHS was playing shorthanded as one of its golfers could not participate because of a chemistry final exam and another opted to attend the senior picnic.
“We had an awesome day,” said Bemidji coach Jeff Nelson. “Both Morgan Miller and Morgan Williams recovered well from slow starts with 39s on the back nine. Alexis shot her low round of the year and Alyssa wasn’t far off her low round.”
“We’re using this meet as our final practice round for the section tournament which is Tuesday and Wednesday at Greystone (in Sauk Centre).”
Emily Israelson of Staples-Motley was Friday’s medalist as she finished 41-35-76.
