GIRLS GOLF: Bemidji owns second place after first day of meet in Fergus Falls
FERGUS FALLS -- Morgan Williams and Kelsey Isaacson each carded an 84 to lead the Lumberjacks girls golf team to second place after Friday's first round of the Fergus Falls Invitational at the par-72 Pebble Lake Golf Course.
Bemidji's top four golfers combined for a team score of 345 and that figure trailed only Alexandria which shot 325. A distant third in the eight-team meet was Wadena which shot 372.
"The 345 is the best we've done all spring," said BHS coach Jeff Nelson. "But Friday also was the best day we've had to play a round of golf."
Morgan Miller contributed an 86 and Megan Dondelinger finished with a 91. Completing Bemidji's team scores were Alexis Konecne's 100 and Alyssa Meyers' 103.
"The kids played very well. Hopefully we can trim even a few more shots off our scores on Saturday."
The second round of the 36-hole tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. today.
