“We were nervous and a step behind all night,” said BHS coach Rick Kehoe. “But it’s early season and we’ll have better nights. Thief River is a big team and will win many games.”

Leading the Prowlers was guard Brooke Yaggie who drained five 3-pointers and finished with 31 points.

“We didn’t have an answer for her,” Kehoe said.

The home team roared to a 45-25 halftime lead and BHS was never able to mount a comeback.

“We’ll be fine this year,” Kehoe said. “Our ceiling is high and we will continue to improve.”

Casey Palmer was the lone Lumberjack in double figures as the senior scored 12 points. Maura Chadwick added six.

Bemidji will make its home debut Thursday when it hosts Grand Rapids.
