"We played well for stretches and then didn't play well for stretches," said BHS coach Rick Kehoe. "We've had the opportunity to win our last seven games. We've been right there but each time we can't make the one or two plays that would get us over the hump."

The Lumberjacks struggled in the opening half and the Rangers were able to open an 11-point lead at the break and eventually forge a 16-point advantage.

"But we played well offensively in the second half," Kehoe said. "With one minute to go we had cut that lead to 64-61 and we had the ball. But then we had a turnover, had to foul and Crosby made the free throws. On our next possession we missed a shot and Crosby made two more free throws.

"And that was it."

Alexa Greendahl scored 19 points and Cheyenne Woods had 16 to lead Bemidji's offense. Maura Chadwick added seven.

Crosby-Ironton (8-6) had four players reach double figures, led by guard Meredith Silgen who scored 21 points.
