Fosston rallied from a six-point halftime deficit to turn the tables on Clearbrook-Gonvick and upset the top seeded Bears 48-41 in the Sub-Section 8A East title game Tuesday night at Thief River Falls’ Ralph Englestad Arena.

The Greyhounds (16-11), the No. 3 seed in the east, will take on Win-E-Mac, the top seed in the west, in the Section 8A title game at 7 p.m. Friday at the REA.

The Bears, who finish the season 25-4, shot out to a 26-20 halftime lead behind Angela Burgess’ hot hand. She scored 8 points – including draining two 3-pointers – to help give C-G the lead at the break.

However, the Greyhounds clamped down on the Bears defensively in the second stanza.

Fosston outscored C-G 28-15 and held Burgess to just two more points.

Meanwhile, Fosston’s Mallory Manecke scored 14 of her game-high 17 points in the second half of the game, including going a perfect 6-for-6 from the line down the stretch.

Burgess was the lone Bear in double figures with 10 points while Madison Stenzel added 9 for C-G.
