The Hunters used a pair of 3-pointers to take a 56-55 lead with 1:32 to play and they expanded their advantage to 60-55 in the final minutes. A 3-pointer by Bemidji’s Cheyenne Woods with 15 seconds to play closed the gap to 60-58 but the visitors cemented the victory with two free throws in the final 10 seconds.

Denfeld caught Bemidji flat footed at the start and bolted to a 19-10 lead midway through the opening stanza. The Jacks battled back, however, and outscored the Hunters 16-4 the rest of the period and the run gave BHS a 26-25 lead at the break.

Bemidji maintained a lead most of the second half but Denfeld’s rally in the final minutes proved to be the difference.

Bemidji (3-11) will host Pequot Lakes Tuesday and visit Crosby-Ironton on Saturday.
