CROOKSTON — The Bemidji High School girls basketball team couldn’t hold onto its halftime lead against the Crookston Pirates.

The Lumberjacks led 35-29 going into halftime but couldn’t contain Sydney Boike in the second half.

Boike scored 19 of her 34 points in the second half and Crookston went on to defeat Bemidji 69-55.

The Lumberjacks (3-9) were led by Casey Palmer, who scored a team-high 19 points — 10 of them in the first half.

But the Pirates (5-6) came back thanks to Boike’s big game. The junior guard went 13-for-14 at the foul line — all in the second half — to help Crookston pull away for good.

Aside from Palmer, Maura Chadwick was the other Lumberjacks player in double figures with 12.

BHS returns to the court Thursday at home against Brainerd.
