“It was a good all-around effort for us,” BHS head coach Rick Kehoe said. “International Falls is a good young team so it was a good win for us.”

The Lumberjacks (3-3) led 31-22 at halftime but Kehoe said they struggled to make foul shots in the first 17 minutes so the lead could have been larger.

In the second half BHS started to pull away from the previously undefeated Broncos, leading by as many as 20 before Kehoe put is substitutes in.

The Broncos (4-1) closed the gap late in the half and the Lumberjacks ended up winning by 16.

“We did a really nice job on the boards,” Kehoe said. “I thought defensively we also did a nice job. It’s good to get back over .500.”

Alexa Greendahl scored a team-high 19 points, making seven field goals and going 5-for-10 from the foul line. Kelsey Olson and Cheyenne Woods each scored 17.

Teagan Anderson led International Falls with 13 points and Maddie Filipak scored 10.

The Lumberjacks have a week off before returning next weekend to the Wood City Christmas Tournament in Cloquet. They’ll play Watertown-Mayer on Friday, Dec. 27 and Browerville on Saturday, Dec. 28.
