The victory was Bemidji’s second in a row and upped its record to 2-1.

“We have a winning streak now,” said BHS coach Rick Kehoe. “I know our best basketball is coming down the road but we looked good for much of the time on Tuesday.”

Early in the contest the Lumberjacks dominated, opening a 39-17 lead before letting Hibbing score the final seven points of the half to claw within 39-24 at the break.

“When we are fresh and have our legs we put down the shots and we can pound teams,” Kehoe said. “That’s what we did most of the first half against Hibbing. But we don’t have our legs yet for an entire game and we tired in the second half.”

Hibbing drew within nine points late in the contest but BHS was able to recover and win by 15.

Alexa Greendahl added 11 points and Cheyenne Woods contributed nine.

The Lumberjacks return to duty Friday when they host St. Michael at 6:30 p.m.
