GIRLS BASKETBALL: Bemidji falls to Pequot Lakes in opener

PEQUOT LAKES – The Bemidji girls basketball team couldn’t overcome a fast start from Pequot Lakes. The Patriots had four players in double figures – including two with 20-plus points – and scored early and often in a 86-63 victory over the Lumberjacks Thursday night. It was Bemidji’s season opener.

The Patriots (2-0) jumped out to an early 15-point first-half lead, and by the time the Lumberjacks knew it, the Patriots led 45-28 at halftime.
