The Lumberjacks (4-19) were outscored 32-22 in the first half. BHS head coach Rick Kehoe said his team wasn’t being dominated but needed to score more to keep up with the Bison (14-10).

“We shot 30 percent from the field and under 50 percent from the free throw line,” Kehoe said. “That’s not going to get it done.”

The Lumberjacks kept it under 15 points for most of the second half but the Bison ran away in the final few minutes of the game, going up by 20 at one point, only to see the Lumberjacks close the eventual final margin to 14.

“We played good defense today,” Kehoe said. “They weren’t steamrolling us or anything. We just couldn’t score to keep up with them.”

Alexa Greendahl led BHS with 10 points and was the only Lumberjack in double figures.

Anika Frederick led Buffalo with 14 points.

Bemidji goes on the road Tuesday and Friday against Grand Rapids and Brainerd, respectively, for its final two games of the regular season. The Section 8-4A playoffs begin March 4.
