The fifth annual Blackduck Chamber of Commerce Backwoods Bash is set for Aug. 15 with most events at the wayside rest located off Hwy. 71.


The festivities begin with the 5k Run, Walk, Waddle or Flop registration at 8 a.m. with the event beginning at 9 a.m.

There will be a pancake feed at the American Legion hosted by the Blackduck High School German and Spanish clubs from 8:30-10:30 a.m.

The Jaycees will again be sponsoring the softball tournament at the Jaycee ballfields. bring your team in and play some ball!

The parade begins at noon sharp at the high school. The grand marshal for this year's parade will be Glennis Moon. The parade route this year has been changed.

The new route will be taking a new turn or rather an old one, as it reverts back to its original route. Participants will line up on 1st St NE in front of school facing south then go right on Summit Ave. then right on Main Street to Bogart's then turn left onto Northern Ave. then left on 1st St NW (by MeritCare Clinic) and then right back on Summit Ave. and left onto the frontage road.

Bingo will be held at 1 p.m. at the wayside rest. be sure to get your coupon for a free game of Bingo!

Following the parade, kiddie games are slated from 1-2 p.m. with minnow races, duck pond, bean bag toss and more!

New this year will be the 3D archery fun shoot to be held at 1 p.m. by Stretch Auto Body.

From 1-5 p.m., the wayside rest activities include a crayon bounce house, titanic slide, iron man obstacle course, tropical maze, five in one bounce and play, water wars, Bingo, a beer tent and food!

Members of the American Legion will be serving egg rolls and the auxiliary will be serving hot beef sandwiches and chips from 1-5 p.m. at the wayside rest. There will be Texas BBQ beef sandwiches and homemade pie at the Blackduck Senior Center.

Also serving something tasty will be the fire department who will be cooking hamburgers and brats. Maria will be back again this year serving up Mexican food and for those Bash-goers with a junkfood craving, Little League members will be serving up cotton candy, popcorn, nachos and pop!

Cheer on your favorite fire department at 2:30 p.m. as teams from different areas compete against each other in a contest of skill in the fire department water contest.

There will be a sweet corn feed in the pavilion at 5 p.m., sponsored by Faith Lutheran Church of Blackduck.

You won't want to miss the adult tricycle race which begins at 3:30 p.m.! Come test your skills and win prizes.

There will be a teen dance held at the fire hall from 8-11 p.m. Dance to James Bettin, DJ and for the adults who are in the mood to dance and party, head down to The Pond and dance to music by Brave New World from 9 p.m-1 a.m.
