Gerchy brings a world of experience to BHS
There are six new teachers in Blackduck this year -- and one by one, we would like to introduce them to the community.
This week's featured teacher is already a familiar face to local sports fans as she leads the varsity girls volleyball team through their season and is garnering press in her own right for the great job the Lady Drakes are doing -- but she's also bringing many years of experience and her own brand of quality and enthusiasm for education into the high school physical education and health programs.
Patricia Gerchy and her husband, Jonathan, moved to the area in 2010.
Gerchy taught for a year at International Falls High School; 10 years at Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D.; a year at Saint Mary's University in Winona; a year at Hartington Cedar Catholic High School; two years at Mayville State University in North Dakota and has coached college volleyball including a season with BSU and seven with Saint Cloud State.
Her favorite high school memories surround being involved in the many extra curricular activities that were offered by her school.
In her spare time, Gerchy enjoys fishing as well as another Minnesota favorite skill -- the making of maple syrup. She also enjoys traveling -- both around the United States and outside of the country.
Patricia says that she is really excited to becoming a part of Blackduck's outstanding school district and the staff is certainly excited to be gaining another outstanding teacher!
