Gay marriage opponents debuting first 2 TV ads
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The group promoting a constitutional ban on gay marriage in Minnesota is debuting its first two TV ads of a heated campaign.
One 30-second ad debuting Monday morning on TV stations statewide argues it's important to keep the traditional definition of marriage between opposite sex couples only. The other, mentions several ways that definition could be changed through judicial or legal means.
Minnesota for Marriage campaign manager Frank Schubert tells The Associated Press the group is spending $750,000 to keep both running throughout October. That's more than a third of the campaign's remaining cash according to a state disclosure report filed last week.
The campaign against the amendment launched its TV campaign two weeks ago with two ads, and has a financial advantage with five weeks to Election Day.
