Gary Gene Moon, 70, of Blackduck, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackduck with the Rev. Allan Wierschke officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. at Cease Funeral Home in Blackduck, followed by a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held in the spring in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck.
Pallbearers will be Richard "DB" Busch, Richard Carter, Ken Hendrickson, Byron "Bud" Johnson, Ed Oldenborg and Dennis Segersten.
He was born Nov. 30, 1938, to Walter "Bud" Moon and May Nesset Moon in Blackduck. He attended Blackduck School, graduating in 1956, and was employed by Magnuson Motors. He married Glennis Pafko in 1956. They, along with their son, Dirk Eugene, later moved to Minneapolis, where he was employed as a machinist for Butler Manufacturing, later named Stainless and Steel, which made bulk transportation tanks. In 1994 they retired and moved back to Blackduck.
He enjoyed hunting deer and grouse, spending time at their vacation home on Island Lake before retirement and yard work. He had an appreciation for music from the 1950s.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years; a son, Dirk; a sister, Marlyn (Don) Weeks of Seattle, Wash.; brothers, Walter Wayne (Carol) Moon and Dennis (Norma) Moon, both of Minneapolis; a brother-in-law; two sisters-in-laws; and nieces and nephews.
